Support for the SAT Math Steps mobile app. A real person answers, usually within one business day. There is no ticket number to quote and no account to look up — see Your data for why.
Most questions we get are about the parts of the app that were built deliberately, so they are first.
That is the design. Each problem is walked in steps — what is being asked, what you are given, what you need to know, then solving it — and a step opens the next one only when it is answered correctly. There is no skip button and no auto-pass.
As many as you want. Wrong answers are never penalised and are not counted against you. After the third one the explanation opens; once you close it you return to the same step and answer it yourself. Reading the explanation is not how a step is cleared.
On purpose. Greying them out would let anyone clear a step by elimination, without ever working out why the right answer is right.
There is no account at all — no email, no password, nothing to forget or reset. The app is not missing a login screen; it does not have one.
The app asks your phone's app store for an age range and cannot be used if that answer is under 13. We cannot override it from our side, and nothing about that visit is saved. If you are 13 or older and still see this, the age recorded in the Apple or Google account signed in on the device is the place to look.
The record lives in the app's own storage on that phone and nowhere else. Deleting the app deletes it; so does clearing the app's data. Because there is no server, we have no copy and cannot restore one. This is the same reason we hold no personal information about you.
No. Syncing would require an account and a server, which the app deliberately does not have.
Close it fully and open it again; the app works offline, so a lost connection is not the cause. If it persists, email us with your phone model and OS version — for example "iPhone 13, iOS 26.2" — and what you were doing when it happened. Screenshots help.
Tell us which problem and what you expected. We write and check these ourselves, and a reader who spots a genuine error has done us a favour.
The report your child can show you reads their whole recent history rather than one problem, because a single stumble does not mean much. It says which step they were most often working on when they stopped, where the explanation had to be opened, and how many attempts it took.
It is a description of what happened, not a prediction and not a grade. If you want to talk it through with an instructor, the contact details above reach us directly.
The app collects no personal information, has no account, and sends nothing anywhere. What it records — which step the reasoning broke down at, how many attempts, and so on — stays on the device.
The full details, including what the age check does and what it does not keep, are in the privacy policy.
We will never ask you for a password, a payment card, or a Social Security number — not by email, not by phone. The app has no account and no purchases, so there is nothing for us to need. A message that asks for any of those is not from us.
